This Native Puerto-Rican, born in New York City, the well-spoken man, jovial in character who sits every day behind the magic counter, known to many as “Walter” Yes, the man who brings out tenacity and a charismatic personality so contagious, is good reason to maintain happy customers returning to his business.
He is simply known as Walter, is a glimpse to a past on a remarkable story of resilience and self-determination. The man to set out to accomplish what he always dreamt of doing. He mustered the skills which allowed him to successfully launch his first business in old town. In 2017, Mr. De Leon opened his first establishment, naming it “El Mavi”, the business immediately flourished, attracting daily customers, but sadly the devastation of Hurricane Maria forced him to take immediate action. Soon el mavi had to be sold.
He followed his second other passion, working as a tour operator, a passion he's always held since his early career started in the tourism business in 1999. Even until this day, he cherishes and continues to enriched the lives of those incoming visitors with mesmerizing stories of the Island's rich culture and it's people.
So, in 2024, with diligent planning, and a beacon of hope, Walter De Leon galloped and with the support of both friends and family, Orabori Bistro was finally born. "Walter" dreams had finally come alive.
