THE CONDADO BEACH

The Condado beach in San Juan is truly an oasis surrounded by turquoise waters and located just in the heart of new San Juan and minutes from San Juan port. Is perhaps one of the most sought out destinations in the Caribbean. Just an amazing safe haven with plenty more than just night clubs' entertainment, fine dining and high rated hotels such as the famously known hotel Vanderbilt. But this tropical paradise truly embodies a fascinating history filled with compelling facts from its early beginnings.

During the early heydays in Condado, those who frequently visited San Juan became so intrigued and captivated with the warm tropical climate and warmth of its people. It wasn't long that both Americans and Europeans began a transition to relocate to beautiful sunny Puerto Rico. The well-suited Tropical Island, known as "La Isla Del Encanto," The perfect destination that offered sandy beaches and tropical lushy mountains. A place so relaxing with an atmosphere perfectly suited well for first time vacationers. A good reason to escape from the brittle cold weather of the United States.

By the early twenties, The Condado district began expanding and growing in population by doubling in size. It was not long before noticeable famous personalities like Frederick Vanderbilt, the man who had amass such wealth and fortune in the railroad industry had chosen Puerto Rico off all other destination in the Caribbean.

Today the Vanderbilt hotel rises high above Ashford Avenue that overlooks the blue pristine waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The Hollywood list of names have been added from entertainers to famous actors and actresses. Bob Hope, Eleanor Roosevelt, just to name a few.

Other noticeable well-known residents as Bailey K Ashford, a pioneer in the world of medicine who once discovered a cure for anemia, had permanent residency in the Condado area.

Today, the Condado continues to draw many visitors from around the world. 


Others names worth mentioning were the behn Brothers, Both American entrepeneurs well known in the telecomunications and original founders of Puerto Rico telephone company. El Puente de los Hermano built in 1911 was named in honor of the bens brothers.
